The animate story of Earth is returning.
- Would re-engaging with the natural world broaden our perception of it, and of ourselves?
- Would re-awakening - and re-valuing - our innate wisdom serve to inform the limited Western scientific approach and ultimate beliefs about life?
- Would expanding our ways of knowing the world - from the post-modern sole use of analytic knowing to include our other three ways of assimilating knowledge (sensing, intuiting, and feeling) - evoke the direly needed re-balancing of Self necessary if we are to actualize the balancing and healing of the planet?
A groundbreaking documentary is currently in production which begins to explore these questions. You can see the pilot at www.animateearth.com Animate Earth is based on the book Animate Earth: Science Intuition and Gaia by ecologist Dr Stephan Harding which explores our previously learned mechanistic, reductionistic stories of Earth and uncovers the science which clarifies that which indigienous peoples knew: that the Earth is a self-regulating, interconnected, reciprocal, cooperative living being and which requires right relationship and ethical accountablity.
Animate Earth will explore our inherent spiritual, moral and physical connection to this originally felt and newly analyzed holistic story.
The film will explore and convey an emerging new scientific understanding that combines quantities with qualities and facts with values in service of genuine participation with nature. By integrating solid scientific reasoning and ethics, holistic science focuses, amongst other things, on the intrinsic value and beauty of natural forms and processes. A labyrintheal, interwoven impression of the Earth as a great sentient creature full of meaning and creativity is invoked in the film by combining exciting visual subject matter and dynamic sound with supporting interviews with leading exponents of holistic thinking.
Animate Earth is a Stories4Change Production by Filmmakers Clive Ardagh and Jonathan Blease, Executive Producer Barbara Tam, and Production Supervisor Erin Scott: www.stories4change.com.
